Girlfriend vs. Boyfriend

When it comes to denim, are you team girlfriend or boyfriend? If you haven’t made up your mind (or even know the difference between the two), you’re going to want to read this.

We’ve already discussed the new skinny (that is the relaxed skinny jean) but now there’s a new boyfriend in town…and that would be the girlfriend jean. A slightly slimmer version of its “male” counterpart, I can honestly say that this is my ideal style. I think I’ve found THE ONE.

I mention in a majority of my personal style posts that I like my clothes loose, not only to be comfortable but because I really like to eat (skinny jeans + a 6 course meal = NOT FUN). Comfy Jena = happy Jena…and this is one happy Jena!

See? So happy I can climb bridges! (sort of…not really)

Now where can one get said girlfriend jeans?

Express. Yes, Express jeans are now my new jam.

It’s not like the girlfriend style is their only style (I almost went flare but we already covered that) so if you’re looking for something slimmer or wider, Express has got your back (I guess, technically, they got your legs).

Let’s just say this isn’t the last time you’ll see this girlfriend jean / brogue combination because it will most definitely be happening the rest of the summer and even into fall. You just wait and see.

But let’s get back to summer for a sec, because although it doesn’t always feel like it, it’s happening…and will be over before we know it! Everyone has their go-to seasonal look and I think I just found mine for summer. Ripped denim, a soft tank, semi-flat shoes, + a new pair of sunglasses and I’m golden.
