Bear Down

Maybe only Chicagoans will understand that title but I just have to throw it out there that I made a sports reference here on CCF (and my sports knowledge barely goes beyond Michael Jordan). Anyway, this post has nothing to do with sports (unless you consider fashion week a sport…which it very well could be). Moschino sent yet another buzz-worthy collection down the runway last week, but it’s not just the teddy bears and Looney Tunes references that has everyone talking…

Jeremy Scott continues to both amuse and amaze us with his creative direction at Moschino (how many designers make clothes inspired by McDonalds, Barbie and Bugs Bunny?) Are they the most wearable collections? Not really (although some beg to differ) but if you want to adorn yourself in bears RIGHT NOW, you can! Thanks to Jeremy Scott and Moschino…

Continuing our conversation of being fashionably early, Moschino is making another capsule collection, seen on the Fall 2015 runway, that you can buy today. They did this last year with many of the McDonalds-inspired pieces as well as the Barbie collection for Spring.

Now for FW15, you can bear down / bear out / get your bear on…and you don’t have to wait until August / September for the collection to actually hit stores.

You know I love good irony and a sense of humor when it comes to fashion, but I’m starting to think…is it better to be more fashion or fashun? Pretty much this entire collection is very fashun (although I’m not opposed to this) and wearing a bear as a handbag looks sort of ridiculous when you’re over the age of 8. As always, it’s all about the styling. You can incorporate one piece into your outfit and immediately, everyone knows you don’t take fashion too seriously. Or you can go all out, which you can see below (only at fashion week, though…anything for Tommy Ton, right?) and then you prove to non-fashion people that fashion people are indeed crazy.

What I love most about this concept is not necessarily what’s being sold — whether it’s a handbag that you can [not really] drink out of or a phone case that resembles a toy (although it clearly says it’s NOT) — it’s that you just saw it on the runway, you can buy it now and own it in just a few business days. You know I love Moda Operandi for pre-ordering runway looks, but it’s rare (like more rare than Kim Kardashian without makeup) to come across something you saw walking down the runway in Milan last week and have it in your hands the following week. And for that, Jeremy and Moschino, I thank you…and I hope more designers get on board with this (I’m talking to you Jack and Lazaro!)

What do you think of Moschino Fall ’15? Will you be indulging in the bear collection? (or are you too emBEARrassed to be seen in such things?) If anything just to own a piece of the runway…because you can? What other designers would you like to see offer up a portion of their collection to shop right away?
