Those of you in the suburbs who are looking for city-style boutiques without having to travel downtown, I have some exciting news for you. Old Town’s Cityblue Apparel & Denim is opening a second location in Lake Forest…today! Along with the grand opening, Cityblue has also launched a redesigned website that will offer merchandise from both of their store locations.
The Lake Forest boutique is a 2,600 sq-ft style mecca offering high-end fashion and luxury labels for both men and women. Located at 662 N. Western Avenue, CB is the sister boutique of Cityblue Apparel & Denim in Chicago.
“After growing up in the area, I knew that Lake Forest residents were looking for cutting edge, yet effortless pieces they could wear every day,” says owner Mallory Ulaszek. Offering designer names typically found only in department stores, CB will feature names such as Marc Jacobs, Helmut Lang and Yigal Azrouel. “It’s ‘boutique meets department store’ – high end labels in a boutique atmosphere – the best of both worlds.”
So be sure to check out the new website at shopcityblue.com and visit a location near you!
With the temperatures seeming to be consistently in our favor (in Chicago that means not freezing), I think it’s about time to start sporting those Spring trends! Seen on the Spring ’12 runways of Jason Wu, Cushnie et Ochs, Thakoon and more, peplum is in this season.
This trend is especially great for those that are “straight down” because it helps give the illusion of curves. And if you’re one that tends to be drawn to more feminine styles, it doesn’t get more feminine than a peplum! I personally like to play with feminine and edgy styles (along with a few others thrown in there) so pairing a peplum dress or skirt with a cropped leather jacket and/or some studded boots is my ideal way of sporting this trend.
Here are some of my favorite peplum pieces available right now.
Prabal Gurung Ruffled Silk Chiffon Blouse
Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Ellsworth’ Striped Peplum Dress
Jason Wu Feather-trimmed cotton and silk-blend gazar Dress
Givenchy Sleeveless Peplum Top
Giambattista Valli Leopard Print Top
Alice + Olivia Carly Short Peplum Skirt

What do you think of this trend? Will you be sporting pretty peplums this spring?
I got a great little package this week from Neiman Marcus with an amazing neon Spring 2012 trend book. Not only is the cover my ideal color but the first Spring trend I opened to is…PINK.
I was pretty inspired by the vibrant pink collage, so I thought I’d make my own and share my favorite pink finds from around the web. The best part is, almost all these pieces can be worn NOW. Let’s be honest, nothing’s better than a pop of color during the drab winter. And although pastels are also a huge trend for Spring ’12, I’m loving the combination of light and bright colors in the same outfit. Something I’ll be experimenting with…coming soon 🙂
1) Marc by Marc Jacobs. 2) Preen. 3) Matthew Williamson. 4) Michael Kors. 5) Oscar de la Renta.
1) B Brian Atwood. 2) Jimmy Choo. 3) Dana Rebecca. 4) Christian Louboutin. 5) Isabel Marant.

Which one’s your favorite? Will you be wearing pink this Spring?
Seen on the runways of 3.1 Phillip Lim, Christopher Kane, Diane von Furstenberg, Louis Vuitton and just about every other designer, pastels are HUGE for Spring 2012…I mean huge. But guess what? You don’t have to wait until April (or in Chicago, June) to rock this trend.
Check out these pastel pieces you can wear now. But beware…pasty colors don’t look good with pasty skin so if you’re not jetsetting to the Caribbean anytime soon, try a Tan Towel.
Marc by Marc Jacobs Bianca Leather Envelope Clutch
Jil Sander Lagos Woven Double-Breasted Coat
J Brand Mariah High-Rise Twill Skinny Jeans
ACNE Lia Cable-Knit Cotton Sweater
(which I totally bought the other day)
