You’ll never find more nudity on a red carpet than at the VMAs. And with Miley Cyrus hosting (therefore having multiple outfit changes), it was all just one mostly naked musical extravaganza. Justin Bieber cried. Taylor Swift [sort of] got back at Kanye. Justin and Britney’s denim moment made yet another revival (and it’s much better than last year’s and even the original). So, friends…let’s do this.
Never have I ever…written about the Billboard Music Awards (until today). I always find it ironic that music and fashion go hand-in-hand yet the music awards shows bring out the tackiest of the red carpet (even the Grammys…which is the “classiest” of said awards shows). HOWEVER, so much went down at the Billboard Music Awards last night (well two major things I know about…as I didn’t actually watch…the weather was too nice to be inside!) that I couldn’t help myself but write about the red carpet today. Celebrity style, a big announcement plus the most highly anticipated music video of 2015…let’s do it.
Taylor Swift is one of those celebrities that, like Anne Hathaway, everyone seems to hate but I’ve always felt indifferent about. The only real opinion I had was about her style, which consisted of only nude sparkly dresses for quite a few years (and clearly wasn’t blowing my mind). But now that she’s all grown up (sort of), I no longer shake my head at what she wears, and she released her first pop album just yesterday (that literally everyone is talking about…so I thought I’d chime in), it hit me and I can’t believe I’m admitting it but…
I think I like Taylor Swift.
Whether you’re sick of hearing about it or tired from all the shows, I’m sure we could all use a fashion week break. And what better excuse than the tackiest celebrity red carpet of the year? Well I guess the number one answer would be any awards show on MTV but number two — The Grammys. Was anyone special enough to get their hands on the brand new Fall 2013 clothes for the red carpet? Interrupting New York Fashion Week for a red carpet fashion feature! I apologize for not live tweeting the Grammys last night, but I’m in NYC and staying at my hotel watching TV just wasn’t going to happen.
