I haven’t been much of a pink fan since high school (and by pink I don’t mean Pink). Really because it reminds me of Paris Hilton saying “that’s hot” while accessorizing with something shiny and/or designer monogram, BUT for Fall 2014…looks like I have to see beyond The Simple Life and get creative with some pops of pink.

Red Carpet Fashion: 2014 Golden Globes
The red carpet may have gotten a little damp, Jennifer Lawrence almost lost one of her many borrowed pieces of jewelry, and if you don’t know the name Lupita Nyong’o you’re going to know it now. The 2014 Golden Globes happened last night and if you missed it, you’re not going to find out who won here on CCF but if you want to know who wore what then you’ve come to the right place.
Let’s do this.
CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Winner
One fashion program I hope never goes away is the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Every year since 2004, they give a grant and mentorship to one promising designer after an extensive round of interviews, presentations, etc. (fun fact: Proenza Schouler’s Lazaro Hernandez and and Jack McCollough were the first ever winners). Last night was the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund dinner where this year’s winner was announced…
Juan Carlos Obando, Dao-Yi Chow, Julianne Moore, Tom Ford, Maxwell Osborne, and Marc Alary
What Why Where: Cut It Out
I love cut-outs, as well as Joey Gladstone’s famous line from Full House, “Cut. It. Out.” so all of this just had to happen today.
The New Resort
Resort isn’t the same as it used to be. What was originally created for wealthy jet setters to have something to wear during their winter vacation months (because what they wore to St. Barths last year simply won’t do), is now a very transitional season. We see much fewer swimsuits, caftans and fabulous floppy hats and more jackets, separates and even full on coats. So how would I describe Resort today? I’d say it’s the perfect mix of Spring and Fall. If you’re digging the black and white “trend” (I use the term trend very loosely because after all, it is black and white) for this Spring then you’ll be happy to know it’s definitely here to stay this Resort season. Pretty much every designer had at least one black and white look, and I might even like these options better than what we saw for Spring.
So, I’m going to do Resort the only way I know how…with superlatives of course.
