Throwback Thursday: Vogue

I hope you all enjoyed my first Throwback Thursday feature because the new CCF tradition is carrying on today. This time I decided not to do another designer but the most iconic fashion magazine instead (can’t you see I’m in the mag mood this week?) We all associate Vogue with Anna Wintour, but a lot was happening at the publication before her signature bob took over as EIC in 1988.

Let’s dig in.

September Issues

Fashion month is approaching and there’s several pounds worth of paper (known as September issues) to prove it. Between fashion weeks all over the world, Fall merchandise rolling in, and the thickest magazine issues of the year all happening next month, you can’t avoid fashion in September. You just can’t…right, Anna?

2012 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists Revealed

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists have been announced! This process is something I look forward to following every year because it’s fascinating to watch designers grow and evolve and how the CFDA & Vogue help make that happen. Last year, Joseph Altuzarra took home the $300,000 grand prize and the runners-up, Pamela Love and Creatures of the Wind’s Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters (from Chicago by the way!), took home $100,000.

Carlos Campos Fall 2012 Menswear

My only mens show so far at fashion week, Carlos Campos definitely is one to watch in menswear. He’s one of the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund finalists this year (and if you haven’t watched the Making The Cut documentary, I highly recommend doing so…like now) and I’m very excited to see where this takes him.

When it comes to menswear, it really just needs clean lines and a great fit (sounds easy but it’s far from). Having some pops of color is a bonus. Carlos did it all perfectly by choosing well tailored coats and fitted jackets in neutrals like brown, camel and navy with various shades of maroon, burgundy and tangerine throughout. This burgundy color seems to be THE choice for Fall 2012 and I think it’s a great option for menswear as well.
