Earlier this week I was invited to check out the launch of Tom Ford beauty at Neiman Marcus. I was especially excited about this because last Fall, I ordered the Violet Fatale lip color and African Violet nailpolish as soon as they were available online…and now these items (along with the entire Tom Ford beauty collection) are available at Neiman Marcus on Michigan Avenue.
I had the pleasure of meeting with Katherine Holmes, the Executive Director of Global Communications for Tom Ford, who walked me through the entire beauty collection and I even got my makeup done by a Tom Ford makeup artist. What I found most interesting about this collection is that it’s very edited and curated therefore every single item has a purpose. Whether it’s a brush, a highlighter pen or a brow sculptor (which was my personal favorite), there’s few options for everything; enough to fit your skin type/tone, color preference, etc. but not so much where it overwhelms you. I compare it to dining at a restaurant with a small menu. If there’s not that many options, the ones you have are probably damn good.
Actually trying the skincare and makeup felt like the ultimate luxury. This stuff feels awesome on your skin, looks incredible and is some of the most high quality makeup I’ve ever used (which explains the high price tag). What impressed me most is that after my makeup was fully done, I didn’t feel like I was wearing any. After having primer, foundation, blush, highlighter, concealer, powder and whatever else was used I felt like I had nothing on at all but when I looked in the mirror it was the absolute perfect amount of coverage.
Although Tom Ford is known for his vibrant colors in his beauty collection, some of my favorite items were all about the skin. The bronzer gives you the perfect glow (and by the size of that thing, it should last you at least 2 years), the Shade and Illuminate is one of the most genius cosmetics ever made (defining cheekbones made easy) and the moisturizer was like butter (except in this case, it would be foie gras). If you’re going to try just one item though, get the brow sculptor. It’s like a calligraphy pen for your eye brows, plus a sharpener and brow brush…all in one.
Have you tried anything from the Tom Ford beauty collection yet?
I’M ALL OVER THIS!!! your skin looks even more perfect than usual in that picture!
I love Tom Ford makeup. I too have the Violet Fatale lipstick and African Violet nail polish, in addition to the Viper and Burnished Rouge nail polishes. I am dying to try the other products as well because I have been so impressed with the staying power and quality of both the lipstick and nail polish. They’re the best I’ve ever used, and I’ve worn lipstick since I was five (really!). Now NM Troy just needs a Tom Ford counter.
Gorgeous! I haven’t tried his line but I’m excited to go check it out! Your skin is GLOWING!
