When you think of accessories, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Bags? Shoes? Jewelry? Hats? Pretty standard stuff. Accessories are an important part of any outfit because it’s what really brings the look together. But if you really want to take things to the next level, an unconventional accessory should be on your radar.

I’m all about weird and unconventional things when it comes to fashion, but something like an embellished collar or a nail ring is unique enough because you don’t see everyone wearing them but they’re not too far fetched where people would be like WTF (which might happen if you opt for the Maison Michel Rain Hood…but I’ll be all OMG, LET’S BE BFFS, SO KEWL).
Some of the more “main stream” accessories that would fall in this category are hand pieces, ear cuffs and bag charms. They’re not ground breaking but they’re not your average bracelets, earrings and keychains. So if you’re looking to up your game in the accessories department, those would all be a great place to start.
The inspiration for today’s post actually started last night when I took a break from binge watching Breaking Bad (thank you Netflix) to do a little browsing. And there I saw it on the corner. The corner of what you might ask? No, I really saw it on The Corner…this Ann Demeulemeester fringy black and white thing. I had to click through the other images to see how this contraption would work. It’s actually one of the coolest collars I’ve ever come across because instead of being something that just makes your shirt look like a collared shirt, this is almost a top on it’s own. Something that can be worn to cover up those tan lines when wearing a tank top in the summer, or maybe to spruce up that sweater you’ve been wearing everyday since the temperatures dropped. Who knew a fringe collar could be so versatile? (and on sale…which is why I added to cart first thing this AM).
