Everything’s Better With Leather…Trim

If you’re a vegan or involved with PETA, I suggest you stop reading now. If you’re a leather-enthusiast like I am (fake leather counts too…as long as it’s Stella-quality) then you know the feeling you get when you put on a leather jacket and you just feel so damn good.

Although I love anything fully leather, there’s something about it just being a trim on a garment that really takes your look to the next level. It’s like the ultimate accent fabric and it can be used in so many ways. I picked out some of my favorite leather-trimmed items available right now to show you the versatility of the look and hopefully inspire you to take a fashion risk with your next outfit.

A Look At Resort ’13

I often find myself categorizing Resort and Pre-Fall as “the forgotten collections.” No one makes a big deal about them (especially compared to Spring and Fall) so they’re rarely remembered. I mean seriously…has anyone ever been like “Remember that khaki Givenchy collection from Resort ’08?” No. But they’ll probably say, “I still can’t get over the panther-print from Givenchy Fall ’11” (it was pretty awesome).

So anyway…let’s give the “inbetween” collection known as Resort a closer look, shall we? I decided to do a superlative-style set up for this one. Hope you enjoy.

Spring Pleats

Whether you like it or not, pleated skirts and dresses are making a comeback for Spring ’12. I’ve owned some pleated pieces here and there but I’ve never wanted more pleats in my life until this season. With various lengths, colors and even prints…there are such great pleated options out right now!

Prada Spring ’12 especially blew me away with the pleats because the color combinations were just unbeatable. Let’s be honest, when does Prada NOT kill it? Exactly…

Short skirts, mid-calf dresses, asymmetrical skirts, maxi dresses. Bright, metallic, pastel, neutral. They’re all pleated…and they’re all awesome. Here’s some of my favorites.

Minty Fresh Fashion

Although tangerine is said to be the biggest color for Spring 2012, mint isn’t far behind…and I’m beyond obsessed. It started with this Acne sweater and led to a full blown obsession. Whether it’s a super pale green or a vibrant pastel (yes, it exists) I am absolutely loving minty fresh fashion for Spring. Who am I kidding? I’m loving it right now!

Here are some of my favorite mint finds of the moment…

Tibi Fall 2012: The 3 M’s

Menswear-inspired. Monochromatic. Minimalist. The best way to sum up Tibi Fall 2012. The collection consists of neutrals in mostly grey and cream while the colors used seem to be an emerging trend for Fall ’12–burgundy and dark green. Patterns seen throughout include a black and cream square print, dark green plaid and a quirky bird print (which I loved).

Overall I was a huge fan of this collection. When you look at the pieces individually, they’re very wearable and easy to incorporate into any wardrobe. My absolute favorite look was the all green sparkling monochromatic outfit. Not sure if I personally would wear it but I LOVED it on the runway. And it was pretty cool to see 2 of my favorite models, Lindsey Wixson and Heidi Mount, walk in the show!
